Rothwell Chair Gift
As part of the Architecture, Design, and Planning faculty within the University of Sydney, I get to work on and maintain different websites within the school. One website I’ve had the pleasure of designing and updating has been the Rothwell Chair Gift website, this is a program which aims to provide leadership and training for architecture students, giving them a personal insight and connection into different architectural firms.
The Design
A new Rothwell Chair is announced every two years, and within that time there are many events, news items, and extra information which needs to be added to the website. This means the website has to be constantly maintained and the information architecture must be carefully considered so that it makes sense where each item is. I am in consistent collaboration between the coordinator of the Rothwell Chair to ensure that she is satisfied with how the information has been presented.
Limitations
The University of Sydney has high standards to meet, especially within their external engagement. There are strict guidelines which must be met about certain design features for most Sydney websites, these included things such as font, colour, and heirarchy. Due to these limitations there were some constraints with creative freedom, however I was still able to create a strong and well designed website which has been a success within the school.
